STG Design converted the existing Sideco Drive into an elegant and modern office structure with the goal of defining Nashville’s developing Design District. A new, dominant entrance features monolithic stairs and a ramp to define a clear external hierarchy relating to the interior programming. Home to Ankara (formerly C3/Consulting), Nashville’s largest management consulting firm, and project contractor Crain Construction, the redesign incorporates elements that pay homage to previous land uses, making its presence in the transitioning area seamless. Some of the original elements maintained in the transformed space include exposed brickwork, industrial windows and exposed steel structure. 10,000 sf of the existing building was demolished to create ample parking with permeable paving, while shower rooms encourage employees to bike or walk to work. Skylights and interior windows were added to maximize natural interior lighting while added storefront windows create a punctuated rhythm to the façade.
