Inspired by the iconic Hayden Ferry Flour Mill, the Silos project transformed a compact restaurant space into a harmonious blend of industrial heritage and warm, inviting ambiance. The design maximizes openness by integrating outdoor elements and natural materials, enhancing the connection between the interior and exterior. Key design features include cylindrical forms that echo the mill’s verticality, with curving walls, circular furniture, and rounded lighting fixtures creating a welcoming atmosphere. Large windows frame outdoor views and flood the space with natural light, further enhancing the sense of openness.
Natural materials such as wood, stone, and metal balance the industrial roots with an earthy, timeless aesthetic. The lighting design, featuring soft illumination and spotlights, adds to the overall ambiance. Serving as a vibrant campus amenity, the restaurant fosters social interaction and community engagement. Its open design integrates seamlessly with pedestrian activity, and the layout accommodates various dining experiences, from casual coffee stops to communal gatherings. Ultimately, this project successfully merges historical inspiration with modern design principles, creating a dining destination that revitalizes the campus and enhances the surrounding urban fabric.
